Katie Price 'could face five years in jail' as she's seen in public for first time since arrest

Katie Price has been pictured in public for the first time since she was arrested for allegedly breaching the terms of a restraining order.

The 43-year-old glamour model was arrested by police on Friday night following reports that she sent foul-mouthed text messages to ex Kieran Hayler about his fiancée Michelle Penticost.

Earlier today, it was revealed that Katie had been released while police continue their investigations into the incident.

The alleged incident could have serious consequences on the mum-of-five, who was handed a suspended jail sentence last month - but now she could be facing a five year prison sentence.

Our partner title The Mirror has published photos of Katie as she sat in the passenger seat of her car while her fiancé Carl Woods was behind the wheel.

Katie was wearing a pink jacket and had her hair pulled up in a messy bun as she sat waiting in the car for Carl.

She appeared to be wearing her engagement ring as she held her hand up to her face.

In December, Katie was given a 16-week prison term suspended for 12 months and 100 hours of community service after pleading guilty at Crawley Magistrates' Court to drink-driving, driving without insurance and while banned from the roads.

A judge told her at the time that she was lucky to not be spending Christmas behind bars.

Announcing her sentence, District Judge Amanda Kelly said: "When you chose to get behind the wheel that night you showed no concern for others.

"You could have killed somebody. Your actions meant the emergency services had to use up their precious time. You knowingly and deliberately flouted a court order and not for the first time.

"You seem to think you are above the law."

In UK law, it is a criminal offence to breach a restraining order, and if she's found to have committed another offence Katie could be sent to prison.

If the offence is tried in a Magistrates' Court, the maximum penalty that can be handed down is a six-month imprisonment.

But if the either-way offence is tried in a Crown Court before a jury, the maximum penalty jumps to five years behind bars.

And when another crime is committed while someone is under a suspended sentence, the Sentencing Council says "the nature of the new offence will become the court’s primary consideration when assessing the action to be taken on the breach.”

It adds: "The court will also look at how far the offender has – or has not – complied with the requirements of the suspended sentence order."

It was in 2019 that Katie was slapped with a restraining order.

Michelle, who met Kieran at the school where her son and his kids with Katie are pupils, had not attended the 2019 hearing when a victim statement was read out on her behalf after accusations that Katie repeatedly called her a "f***ing c***" outside of the school.

The statement said: "I’m still in a relationship with Mr Hayler. It is clear Miss Price has been poisoning their children’s view of me - saying I'm fat, I have a big a**e, that I hate mummy [Price].

"I'm anxious I may still see her and I just want to get outside the school as soon as possible."

This weekend, Katie is alleged to have breached this order by branding Michelle a "c***ing w***e piece of s***" and a "gutter s**g" in a text message, The Sun reports.

A source close to Michelle's family told the publication: "Although the message was sent to Kieran, they both felt it was addressed to Michelle. So they got in touch with the police.

"Michelle is absolutely devastated, and feels very threatened. The message was incredibly aggressive.

"Given the restraining order that’s in place, and the fact Katie is still on a suspended sentence, it’s extraordinary she decided to lash out like this — unprovoked, too."
