Katie McGlynn says she doesn't need a man on Valentine's Day when she's got her gay best friend

Katie McGlynn has penned a poem to show appreciation for her best pal Lee Bennett on Valentine's Day.

Rochdale actress took to Instagram to say she doesn't need a man when she has her 'gay best friend.'

The former Coronation Street star shared a smiley snap of the pair on a walk together with her verse.

"Roses are red, violets are blue," she wrote.

"Who needs a man when I have a GBF like you?"

Katie, who played Sinead Tinker in Corrie, added in a rallying message to fellow singles: "Happy Valentine’s Day to you all!

"I know times are still really tough at the moment but I’m sending lots of love and positive vibes to you.

"Remember it’s just a stupid Hallmark holiday...until you get your other half then it’s MEGA important guys."

And she added a string of hashtags including 'gaysbeforebaes.'

"How lovely!" exclaimed one follower.

Over on publicist Lee's page he also shared a photo of himself and his bestie Katie as he wished his followers 'Happy Galentine's Day.'

The day is held before Valentine's Day to show devotion to close friends rather than romantic partners.

"Happy Galentine’s Day to all my independent, sassy, single pringle friends and followers who don’t need no man because they’re too busy loving themselves," he wrote.

And he added: "#galentines #happygalentines #valentines #valentinesday #love #happiness #selflove #singlepringle #whoneedsavalentine"

After a walk around Hollingworth Lake in Rochdale with his soap star pal Lee wrote on his Instagram: "My favourite place with my favourite person (99% of the time)."

Katie won high praise for her role as Sinead, who passed away in the show in October 2019 after battling cervical cancer.

Last year she scooped the National Television Award for best serial drama performance.

After breaking hearts in Weatherfield as Sinead Katie will be back on our screens in series four of the BBC One drama The Syndicate about a group of lottery winners.
