Katie McGlynn looks stunning as she watches the BAFTAs from home

Katie McGlynn wasn't going to let the lack of red carpet stop her from dressing up for the BAFTAs.

The former Coronation Street star was determined to get dressed for the BAFTA Television Awards despite the ceremony being virtual this year because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Katie, 27, who played Sinead Osbourne in Corrie until the end of last year, looked stunning in a red leaf-effect gown as she smiled for a snap posted on her social media.

Sporting silvery blonde locks, she told her fans coronavirus wasn't stopping her from getting her glam on for the big night.

"@bafta ready ..covid isn’t stopping me from getting glam!" she wrote.

She added 'pass me the champers' and Katie, from Rochdale, was in the mood celebrate after being nominated for the awards screened on BBC One.

"Stunning," said one follower.

"You look amazing," said Manchester fashion designer Nadine Merabi.

Katie previously scooped the best serial drama performance for her heartbreaking scenes in Coronation Street as tragic Sinead at the National Television Awards 2020.

And the death of Sinead has been nominated for this year's Must-See Moment at the BAFTA Television Awards.

Sinead's death from cervical cancer saw some of the long-running soap's most harrowing scenes as it documented the young mum and newlywed's journey - and Katie felt like she was grieving for real while acting out her final scenes in Sinead's flat that she shared with her husband Daniel and their baby son Bertie.

This year’s nominees are involved through a combination of video linkups and pre-recorded acceptance speeches, with a number of celebrity presenters also on hand in-studio to announce the winners.

She took part in a photo shoot with the legendary photographer Rankin ahead of the awards, posing atop a lawnmower.

And she looked super-glam in a jewelled white gown accessorised with gardening gloves.

Katie said about her Rankin image: "All dressed up and nowhere to go (insert lawnmower emoji)."
