Katie McGlynn is heading to Hollywood after auditioning for major Netflix show

Former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn is hoping to make it big in Hollywood after leaving the Weatherfield cobbles.

The Rochdale actress is flying out to LA to for 'pilot season', which runs from January to April, in the hope of making it big stateside.

Pilot season is when major networks make a decision on the pilot scripts they've purchased and how they're cast

Katie, who was widely praised for her harrowing role in Corrie as young mum Sinead Osbourne who lost her battle against cancer at the end of last year, has already auditioned for a major Netflix show.

She told the Daily Star : "It's going to be an exciting year. I've already had so many wonderful auditions.

"One was for a big Netflix show, which would be an amazing opportunity. But I can't say too much more.

"I'm also going to LA. I've never been before, but I can do a really good American accent."

Katie played Corrie's Sinead Tinker for six years (ITV)

Katie, 26, who played Sinead in the soap from 2013, also revealed she'd love to do a comedy.

She thinks a sitcom would be perfect for her dry sense of humour.

Katie played Tinkerbell in Peter Pan in Northwich over the festive period but was forced to pull out of her role after falling ill with a virus.
