Katie McCabe has urged the Irish government to 'do better' over access to fertility treatments.
It comes after Ireland was ranked 40th out of 43 European nations on the the European Fertility Atlas, an online interactive map which scores countries over their access to fertility treatments such as IVF.
Ireland is the only EU country not to offer publicly funded IVF treatment, whereas in Belgium, couples can receive six cycles free of charge.
Ireland ranked behind every country except for Turkey, Belarus and Ukraine - leading the Republic of Ireland women's captain to take to social media to urge the country's leaders to take action.
Taking to Twitter, McCabe said: "40th out of 43 countries. Ireland let’s do better than this".
