Katie McCabe scores incredible free-kick for Arsenal ahead of Ireland's crucial qualifier

Katie McCabe will captain Ireland with confidence sky high after her stunning free-kick opened the scoring in Arsenal's 6-1 derby rout over Tottenham today.

The Ireland skipper's setpiece effort curled around the Spurs wall and beyond goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer to find the far corner from a tight angle.

McCabe's brilliant opener after just four minutes was the ignition for Arsenal to go on to thrash their London rivals with Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema setting a new WSL scoring record as she reached 52 goals with a hat-trick.

The victory puts Arsenal at the top of the table, two clear of second-placed Everton.

McCabe will travel to Kiev with the Ireland squad this week as Vera Pauw's side take on Ukraine in a crucial Euro 2021 qualifier on Friday.

Victory for Ireland would secure a play-off spot with one game still to go - at home to Germany on December 1st. While a best runners-up spot, that guarantees automatic qualification, is also in contention.
