Katie Holmes and more A-listers hit New York's Whitney Art Party in style

The downtown art and fashion crowd came out in full force for The Whitney Art Party on Wednesday evening.

Museum parties always have an air of restrained decadence - the idea that you’re drinking bubbly while glancing at multi-million dollar pieces of art in a glamorous dress is a cosmopolitan idea of a night out that will likely never die...especially in New York City, where many of the biggest parties of the year are hosted at museums, whether it's the Guggenheim or the Whitney Museum of American Art.

And thank goodness the Whitney does it oh so well. Socialites, artists and fashionistas mingled while sipping cocktails and queueing for the Instagram-ready video photobooth that's all the rage these days, no matter what party you attend.

The theme of the evening was "festive," so there were plenty of sequins spotted in the crowd.

Attendees included Art Party Co-Chairs Michael Carl, Micaela Erlanger, Jamian Juliano-Villani and Olivia Palermo, as well as new Hollywood It-girl Julia Fox (in stunning blue Max Mara), Katie Holmes, Kate Walsh, Victor Cruz, Wes Gordon and Paul Arnhold, Arielle Charnas, artist Shantell Martin, and a rather alarming Trump impersonator (but remember, this is the art world, so it’s totally on point).

All in all, it was a glittering start to the 2020 party scene.
