Mum’s the word as far as teenager Stephanie Conner is concerned.
The 15-year-old’s mum Katie Conner works as a domestic at University Hospital Wishaw ensuring the Intensive Care Unit is as spick and span as can be.
Stephanie, a fifth year pupil at Braidhurst High openly admits that mum Katie is her hero.
When she’s not hard at work carrying out her critical work at the hospital or being a mum she is helping out others.
“My auntie only has one lung and hasn’t been able to get out so my mum’s been helping her out going her shopping,” said Stephanie.
“I think my mum has been working at the hospital for about 20 years maybe, since well before I was born anyway.
“My mum also does a lot of stuff for my nanna who is 91. She’s in a care home in Blantyre but my mum drops stuff off to her all the time.
“She’s also been doing overtime at the hospital to try and help out there.”
When we spoke to Stephanie her mum was out shopping for her aunt but when she is at home Katie is still running about after her family.
“She looks after me and my dad as well. There’s nothing the matter with him, he’s just a lot of hard work at times,” Stephanie joked.
“She always cares for everyone but herself she’s my hero and best friend I’m so glad to call her my mum.”
We helped Stephanie show how much she cares about her mum by turning up at her front door in Newmains and presenting her with a bouquet of flowers, courtesy of our friends at Pixie’s Petals.
