Katie Boulter at Wimbledon: Her Royal fan, famous boyfriend and dramatic incident

British number one tennis player Katie Boulter is becoming something of a household name at Wimbledon.

She has played in the tournament since 2017, when she was aged just 20, and made it out of the second round for the first time in the 2022 competition.

The Leicester-born star began playing tennis aged just five, and her idol was always Serena Williams. Her mother Sue is a former tennis coach, so she has grown up with the sport in her life.

The starlet claimed her first Women's Tennis Association title in Nottingham this year at the Rothesay Open, defeating fellow Briton Jodie Burrage in the final.

Her dream is to be the number one tennis player in the world.

Katie Boulter net worth

As per PlayersBio.com, Boulter's net worth is around $2 million (£1,573,440).

Just Stop Oil drama

The star was at the centre of a dramatic incident at Wimbledon as Just Stop Oil protesters stormed the court in her first-round match against Daria Saville.

Having resumed the match after it was delayed by the rain, Boulter was hoping to fight back in the tie break when a man forced his way onto the court and threw hundreds of orange jigsaw pieces on the grass. After he was apprehended by security, both players helped to clean up the mess.

It was the second time on the same day that Court 18 was disrupted by Just Stop Oil.

Boulter returned to play to win five straight tie break points and then won the final set convincingly.

Fame and fashion

Back in 2018, Boulter featured in Vogue, and was touted as one to watch, so she has been in the limelight for some time now. She's very much in to her fashion, and mentioned in the interview that she would consider collaborating with a brand to design a new collection in future.

"Absolutely, that would be incredible! Fashion and tennis are two of my favourite things so I'd love to combine them," she said.

Speaking on her sky-rocketing fame in the same interview, she talked about the influence of Serena Williams.

"The progress I've made has inspired me. I know there have been times in my career when I've doubted my ability and had to dig extra deep to get the results I wanted," she explained.

"Sticking to your goals can be an uphill battle, especially when you don't see results right away. This experience has shown me that dreams can come true if you work hard.

"She's [Serena] a woman who through sheer hard work and talent has overcome so many barriers to become the best tennis player in the world. Without question, she's the player I most look up to."

Boulter went on to share the court with Williams at the Mastercard Hopman Cup back in 2019.

She was also a cover star on the August issue of iconic fashion, glamour and society magazine Tatler, alongside fellow Brits Cameron Norrie and Jack Draper.

Royal fan

The Princess of Wales dropped in on Court 18 this week to watch Boulter take on Australian Daria Saville in the first round. Kate Middleton is a patron of the Lawn Tennis Association and attends a lot of games.

Kate clearly made a beeline to watch Boulter in action, with Court 18 being a lot smaller than the likes of Centre Court and Court One where the royals are more usually seen. For some context, Centre Court holds almost 15,000 people while at Court 18 there are just three rows of seats and no stands.

Superstar boyfriend

Boulter is currently dating fellow tennis player Alex Di Minaur, and the pair have been together since March 2020. Australian Di Minaur is currently seeded 17th in the world and is also competing at Wimbledon 2023.

The couple are also taking part in the mixed doubles tournament, which Boulter is excited about.

She said: "Yeah, I mean, I was privileged enough to ask him and he said yeah. I think it's something we've both wanted to do for quite some time. I think we're both going to really enjoy it and cherish it. It's not often that you get to have that experience together, especially at Wimbledon. We're going to go out there and have a swing. We've got nothing to lose, so I'm looking forward to it."

Love of football

Boulter is Leicester born and bred, so won't be too happy about her side Leicester City getting relegated from the Premier League.

Just by having a quick scroll through her Instagram feed, you'll see an abundance of pictures of the star wearing England and Leicester City jerseys.

There are also snaps of her posing with a Foxes scarf at the King Power Stadium, as well as holding up an England flag in Three Lions supporter gear.
