Kathy Griffin gives update on cancer surgery, sobriety: ‘I fear drugs and addiction more than I fear cancer’

Kathy Griffin is staying positive after her recent lung cancer diagnosis and surgery.

The comedian, 60, wrote on Instagram Wednesday that the surgery that removed half of her left lung “was a little more than I had anticipated.

“Tonight will be my first night without any narcotic pain killers,” said the Emmy winner, who added that she’d instead be taking her “new best friend,” Tylenol.

“The last time I was in a hospital was in June 2020 when I tried to take my life and overdosed on prescription pills,” said Griffin. “With over a year clean and drug free, I now know I can do this and anything I want without those devil pills. Y’know what? I fear drugs and addiction more than I fear cancer. So, I think I’ll be ok.”

Griffin revealed her diagnosis of Stage 1 lung cancer Monday, adding, “Even though I’ve never smoked!”

She said her doctors are “optimistic” as the cancer was contained to her left lung. A representative for the funny lady told the Daily News on Monday that her surgery “went well and as planned.”

Griffin got a slew of support from fellow famous ladies following her Wednesday post.

“You are a warrior. And I’m proud of you,” wrote Debra Messing.

“You got this,” said Mariska Hargitay, who worked with Griffin when the comedian guest-starred on a 2009 episode of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”

“Thinking about u - u got this,” commented Rosie O’Donnell. “Sopranos” actress Annabella Sciorra sent both a heart and praying hands emojis.

“You got this Kathy you are going to do great,” said Andie Macdowell.
