Kathleen McGovern scored a first-half equaliser as Group A1 bottom side Scotland pick up their first point in the Nations League from a 1-1 draw against Netherlands at Koning Willem II Stadion.
Already-relegated Scotland had lost five-successive matches heading into their final group game and it looked like they would fall to another defeat when Jill Roord put the hosts in front.
However, the visitors got themselves level just before the half-hour mark courtesy of McGovern’s effort.
Scotland pushed for the winner in the second period, but a string of saves from Daphne van Domselaar denied them their first victory and they instead had to settle for a point, while Netherlands finished second behind group leaders Germany.
The away side started bright but found themselves a goal down with just 10 minutes on the clock.
Netherlands hardly had to get out of second gear – Lee Gibson and Sophie Howard did well to keep out two initial efforts but Roord was not to be denied at the third time of asking as she fired the ball home.
Scotland got level just before the half-hour mark though. Emma Lawton whipped in a brilliant cross towards McGovern and she bundled it beyond Van Domselaar, who could not do enough to stop the ball from crossing the line.
Netherlands instantly went in search of a second goal as Danielle van de Donk came close with a volley which was magnificently saved by Gibson to keep things level.
Scotland had ideas of their own to get a surprise win over the favourites, this time Erin Cuthbert laid the ball off for Mia McAulay, who could not guide her effort on target.
Glasgow City goalkeeper Gibson had a busy half in goal, she was called into action again to palm Romee Leuchter’s strike away for a corner as the scores remained level at the break.

The visitors were doing everything themselves to try and nick a surprise lead in the second period, McAulay again worked an opening but blasted straight into the grasp of Van Domselaar.
Netherlands manager Andries Jonker cut a frustrated figure down on the touchline as Scotland continued to push, and the home side had Van Domselaar to thank when she pulled off a great save to keep out Kirsty Howat before she slid across to keep out Martha Thomas.
