Katherine Ryan discusses labour after 'touch and go' homebirth with daughter Fenna Grace

Katherine Ryan has discussed home birth after the safe arrival of her third child in the early hours of Friday morning.

The comedian, 39, and partner Bobby Kootstra welcomed daughter Fenna Grace at 12.05am at their family home in north London after opting for a homebirth for their second child together.

Katherine has son Fred, who was born in June 2021, with Bobby and also has eldest daughter Violet, 13, from a previous relationship.

Katherine previously told The Jonathan Ross Show that she wanted a home birth with her third child as she gives birth "quickly", having nearly had her first child in the back of a car.

And it appears that the Canadian comic followed through with her plan for Fenna after Bobby broke the news of their child's birth with a photo of the newborn and another of Katherine in a birthing pool while in labour on his Instagram account on Friday morning.

Katherine took to her Instagram Stories to update her 864,000 followers of the birth. Her first photo was a close-up of Fred who looked intrigued as he stared at his little sister with his finger in his mouth.

She then shared a snap of herself with her glowing baby bump before birth, with the caption: "Before it all kicked off... RIP my cutest pregnancy yet. I'll miss you, sacred bod."

After Fenna's arrival, Katherine posted a video of her lying on the bed before focusing on her eldest daughter. The mum-of-three said: "She said 'you will not have the baby in my room', where did we have the baby?", to which Violet replied: "My room!".

Katherine panned the camera on herself and baby Fenna, who was wrapped up on her shoulder, being continuing: "That's Violet, the MVP of the whole thing, along with private midwives and Bobby. We did it.

"Harvesting colostrum is the best thing I have ever did, using it now because she is tiny. We'll tell you the story on the podcast but today, we hit a glitch. A big glitch which delayed things, it was a bit touch and go but we made it. And we got to stay at home."

She later shared a snap of the mother and newborn struggled up together asleep, with the caption of "home sweet homebirth". Katherine's phone had an episode of Netflix's controversial Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan on as she slept.

However, she was back into the swing of motherhood with a photo of her feeding a bottle to Fred on Friday evening.
