Katherine Parkinson's debut play Sitting will have London premiere at the Arcola Theatre

Actor Katherine Parkinson’s debut play will have its London premiere at the Arcola Theatre.

Sitting, which had a month-long run at the most recent Edinburgh Fringe, will open next month.

Sarah Bedi will direct the play, which follows Luke, Cassandra and Mary, who are sitting to have their portraits painted. The monologue play sees the three characters sharing their own stories of love and loss.

Bafta-winning Parkinson, known for The IT Crowd and Humans, is currently starring in the National Theatre’s production of Home, I’m Darling on the West End, for which she has received an Olivier nomination.

Sitting was developed as part of a BBC Arts scheme to encourage first time writers to create work for the stage.

Sitting will run from April 15-May 11 at the Arcola Theatre, arcolatheatre.com
