Her voice is loved by millions, but Katherine Jenkins admits her kids would rather she kept it to herself.
The Welsh opera star is mum to Aaliyah, five, and Xander, two, with her husband Andrew Levitas.
And the cheeky youngsters often beg her to pipe down when she bursts into song at home.
Katherine joked: “There’s a lot of singing in our house, despite my children telling me, ‘No singing mummy. Not today. It’s too loud.’ I often get told off.”
Mezzo-soprano Katherine, 40, says the pair do not quite understand her fame, or that her passion is also her job.
“They make me laugh all the time when they say, ‘Who is Katherine Jenkins?’” she explained.
“My daughter was being asked some questions at school and I needed to help.
“I said to her, ‘Does mummy work?’ and Aaliyah said, ‘No. Mummy sings songs’.”
Katherine receives a similar reaction from her own mother, Susan.
“There is always this little joke of, ‘When are you going to get a real job?’”
But her children do enjoy making a game of the singer’s strict rule of spending 24 hours in total silence before a show.
“We act everything out,” she told Charlotte Hawkins’ Last, Past and Blast podcast.
“They feel like it is a massive game of charades and will try to get me to talk.
“That is when my husband thinks I am this dream wife as I can’t answer back.”
