Katherine Jenkins mugged before performance at charity carol concert

Singer Katherine Jenkins was mugged in a "vicious" street attack on Wednesday after trying to defend an elderly woman who was being targetted.

According to Wales Online, the 39-year-old was on her way to a singing rehearsal in London when she saw the elderly woman in distress at around 3pm.

Katherine's agent said that she stepped in to help the lady but was then robbed herself.

However, the incident didn't stop her from performing at the Henry van Straubenzee charity carol concert at St Luke's Church in Chelsea, later that day.

Her agent said:"On her way to rehearsal she witnessed an older lady being viciously mugged and intervened to help.

"As a result of her stepping in, Katherine was then mugged herself.

"However she helped the police identify the perpetrator and the young woman was arrested shortly afterwards.

"Miraculously, Katherine still managed to perform at the concert as she didn't want to let the charity down."

According to a police spokesperson, officers were called out to the incident and arrested two 15-year-old girls on suspicion of robbery.

An officer was assaulted during the incident but didn't require any medical treatment.

One was released under investigation but another was re-arrested on Thursday, December 5 in connection with the incident.

She remains in custody.
