Kate Wright shares 'baby hopes' four months after Rio Ferdinand wedding

Kate Wright has opened up about the prospect of having a baby with Rio Ferdinand, after embracing her role as step-mum to his three children.

Speculation about the possibility of the pair extending their blended family has been talked over since they tied the knot in Turkey last September.

Rio's three children with is late wife Rebecca, Lorenz, Tia and Tate, played a huge part in the happy occasion and marked the day with speeches welcoming Kate officially to their clan.

In an interview with Times Weekend Magazine, Kate reveals how one of the kids took their moment on the microphone to ask the newlyweds for a little brother or sister - an idea which Kate is not rejecting.

She explains: "Everyone was emotional. Everyone was crying. To have the kids stand up and make a speech in front of everyone was so moving..."

Kate then recalled how Tate ended his moment with: "I love you Dad and Kate... and when's the baby?"

"They really do want us to have a baby, but we'll see," Kate mused, adding: "We're just enjoying being a unit."

Kate said her home with Rio is already bursting with noise. and activity.

"We call it the crazy house," she laughs.

Kate's life took a completely unexpected turn when she bumped into her now husband Rio during a trip to Dubai in 2016.

She says the pair hit if off right away, but with Rio grieving for his late wife, his sister Sian stepped in to ask Kate if she could pass on her number.

Kate admits they hit it off straight away.

But shortly after they began dating, life dealt them another blow when Rio lost his beloved mum Janice, who died suddenly at the age of 58.

Kate vowed to look after 'fragile' Rio and to help out with his children - though she knew she had to tread carefully and could never 'replace' their mum.

The TOWIE star proved her dedication by giving up her lucrative reality TV career to become a full time step-mum in the family.

After getting to grips with the school run, cooking their favourite chicken dinner and becoming someone to talk to in their grief, Kate slowly became integrated into the Ferdinands' home.

While they appear the perfect blended family now, Kate fully admits it wasn't an easy feat and it took a lot of counselling for her to become the best step-mum she could be.

Looking back on her incredible journey, Kate - who is releasing new book Fitter, Happier, Healthier, said: "This has been years in the making - me feeling happier and more relaxed with who I am."
