Kate Spade's five most iconic designs

In the eyes of many women, there was no design house quite like Kate Spade.

Although the late founder of her eponymous label hasn’t been creatively involved with the brand since 2007, she set the tone and laid the groundwork for what would become a billion dollar brand.

With the brand’s motto “live life colourfully” and their advice that women should be “quick, curious, playful and strong,” the sassy, classy and fun vibe of Kate Spade struck a chord with women across the world.

We were all drawn in by the stores’ bright colours, stylish interior designs and complementary sweets.

The stores are the perfect antidote to stuffy designer boutiques that leave many of us feel too intimidated by to enter.

The brand is both accessible both physically and in terms of price, which is one of the reasons it has become so popular.

From the statement earrings to the glittery wallets, the 50s style dresses to the polka dot shoes, most people can find something in Kate Spade that speaks to their soul and give you that ‘Oh my gosh I need this now’ feeling.

Here are five of Kate Spade’s most iconic styles:

1. Sam bag

The Sam originally rose to popularity when it launched in the 90s but the iconic tote has been reissued this year. The brand has now become well known for its prim and proper, ladylike bags.

2. Square studs

The crystal square studs have been a Kate Spade staple for years, available in every sparkly colour under the sun.

3. Bows, polka dots and champagne

Kate Spade has managed successfully to merge typically girly features with grown-up, elegant style, which has become a trademark look.

4. ‘Glitter is my favourite colour’

Despite the American spellings, this slogan tapped into the inner child of women around the globe, appearing on handbags, phone cases, wallets and more.

5. The radio clutch

Kate Spade is a brand known for creating accessories that look like something else completely, but it was perhaps the radio clutch that became the most iconic.
