Kate Moss will play the London fox in a forthcoming exhibition at the Museum of London.
The supermodel has lent her voice for the Beasts Of London show, which aims to tell the story of the wildlife that has also called the city home for thousands of years.
Croydon-born Moss has already been in the studio to record her lines, but the museum is remaining tight-lipped about her performance. Announcing the casting, a spokeswoman for the museum said the animal was “shrouded in mystery” and would only reveal she was “elegant and intelligent”.
The show also includes performances by Matilda and Call The Midwife actress Pam Ferris as an eagle during the Roman rule and creation of Londinium. Episodes star Stephen Mangan will voice Governatore, a horse which was King Henry VIII’s steed, while I’m A Celebrity winner Joe Pasquale will voice a dormouse, and presenter Angellica Bell a rat who was once used for entertainment.
Curator Francis Marshall said: “We are very pleased to announce that Kate Moss will be joining our already fantastic cast.
“Their voices will contribute to bringing to life the vibrant stories of some of London’s most significant and long-standing inhabitants — the beasts.
“We cannot wait to share this fascinating and immersive experience with audiences of all ages.”
It is not Moss’s first appearance in a museum. In 2008 a solid gold statue of the model by artist Marc Quinn went on display at the British Museum. She was also painted by Lucian Freud. The 45-year-old was discovered aged 14 by the founder of Storm Model Management while waiting for a flight home from New York.
Early appearances in style magazine The Face made her a star and she has gone on to model for the biggest names in fashion and on the high street.
She has had cameos in Zoolander 2 and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, launched a fashion range, runs a modelling agency, and was chosen to appear among cultural icons on Peter Blake’s 2012 updated cover of The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Beasts of London runs from April 5 to January 5.
