Kate Middleton won't keep Duchess of Cambridge title in near future as Royal rank changes

Kate Middleton will not be known as the Duchess of Cambridge in the near future - as both her husband William and Prince Charles step up to greater responsibilities.

Kate has been referred to as The Duchess of Cambridge for more than ten years since her wedding to Prince William in Westminster Abbey in April 2011.

And it seems that Kate won't lose her title of the high-ranking role, but will instead gain two new ones.

William, Duke of Cambridge, is now second in line to the throne and there are rumours that the Queen could make Prince Charles Regent Kent Live reports.

Following Prince Phillip's death, Prince Charles' has been preparing for the throne and will lose his Prince of Wales title.

Charles was made Prince of Wales in a 1969 ceremony at Caernarfon Castle and was the 26th to take on the title.

When he takes over the throne from Queen Elizabeth, Prince William will take on the title of Prince of Wales and Kate will change from the Duchess of Cambridge to the Princess of Wales.

Prince William and Prince Harry's mum Diana had that title and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall turned it down out of respect when she married Charles.

When future king Prince Charles give up the throne, and Prince William takes over as King William and will rule over the nation, Kate will very probably be referred to as Queen Catherine - Catherine being her full name.

Kate has no royal blood herself, so will be a Queen consort and there will be a ceremony when that happens too - although William's coronation will be a bigger event.
