Whether it’s her bespoke ‘GCL’ necklace (£1,020) by British designer Daniella Draper or her double-layered gold chain by Spells of Love (£85), Kate Middleton is no stranger to the subtle power of a delicate necklace.
During a video that marked the end of her Hold Still exhibition this weekend, the mother-of-three debuted a new necklace by ethical British jewellery designer, Alex Monroe.
Suffolk-born Monroe designs and makes all of his pieces in England using recycled gold, silver, and plastics, and names Sienna Miller, Holly Willoughby, and Nicholas Grimshaw as fellow fans.
The Paleontology Nugget Necklace, which Kate opted for, features fossilised nuggets, botanicals, and animals as its charms and is still available to buy (£285.)
Paired with the scarlet Zara blazer she first wore during the London Olympics in 2012, Kate’s outfit was effortlessly chic and pared-back.
"For me, the most powerful part of the project is that it has shown just how much people and communities have come together and how important we all are to each other," she said in the video. "Thank you so much for being part of Hold Still and for sharing your stories with the nation."
It was back in May that Kate, a keen photographer, launched Hold Still in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery, of which she is a patron. “Hold Still aims to capture a portrait of the nation, the spirit of the nation, what everyone is going through at this time. Photographs reflecting resilience, bravery, kindness – all those things that people are experiencing," she said in a statement.
31,000 people have submitted to the Hold Still exhibition, which has recorded over 5.2 million page views on the National Portrait Gallery website since May.
