Kate Middleton to have 'less ambitious' 40th birthday than Meghan Markle

Kate Middleton is said to be planning a "low key" party to celebrate her 40th birthday.

A royal expert has said he believes that the Duchess of Cambridge's way to mark the milestone will be "less ambitious" than her sister-in-law Meghan Markle's.

Also assuming that the mum-of-three will be cautious about Coronavirus, Royal Family expert Jonathan Sacerdoti said: "Being who she is, she is choosing perhaps to do something lower key as to set a good example."

Meghan Markle launched the 40x40 project, where she asked 40 of her friends to give 40 minutes of their time to offer advice on returning to work after lockdown.

"I may get a bit of grief for this, but we saw how Meghan conducted herself for her 40th and we can wonder whether or not Catherine is going to be doing the same thing," Jonathan told Royally US podcast.

"I don't think we will be seeing anything similar from Princess Catherine."

"I think that we will be seeing something a lot lower key, is what we have been told."

He added: "Being who she is, she is choosing perhaps to do something lower key as to set a good example."

Jonathan believes that Kate's birthday on January 9 will reflect the wider attitude of Brits when it comes to big social gatherings.

"As ever, the Royal Family will be keen to set an example to others on January 9," he said.

Before her 40th birthday, Meghan wrote on the Archewell website she shares with Prince Harry : "Tens of millions of women around the world have left the workforce, including over two million women in the US.

"So many of these women are also shouldering the brunt of the crisis when it comes to unpaid labor, including schooling and caring for family members.

"And the latest research shows that fewer women than men will regain work as we recover from the pandemic.

"I believe mentorship is one way to help women regain confidence and rebuild their economic strength, and for my birthday, I have asked 40 friends, activists, athletes, artists, and world leaders to help kickoff a global effort by contributing 40 minutes of mentorship to support women re-entering the workforce."

Hilary Clinton, Princess Eugenie and actress Melissa McCarthy were among the many women that Meghan rallied for her project.

Speaking around her August birthday, she said that she hoped her idea would take off and have a "ripple effect" across the world with others turning 40, who would then ask 40 of their own loved ones to take part.
