Kate Middleton spotted buying Halloween costumes from Sainsbury's

Everyone loves a good costumes at Halloween - and it turns out even royalty enjoy dressing up on October 31, as Kate Middleton surprised shoppers while buying Halloween outfits at a Sainsbury's branch.

The Duchess of Cambridge was spotted by shoppers just before midday on Thursday, October 24 buying scary outfits for Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The 37-year-old was photographed purchasing the items herself at the self-service counter.

Friendly Kate even asked some children what they planned to dress up as for Halloween while shopping at the store in King's Lynn, Norfolk.

Shopper Kathy Whittaker, 53, couldn't believe it as she watched Kate browsing Halloween outfits shadowed by a burly bodyguard, report Cambridgeshire Live.

Kathy said: "Another shopper said that Kate was in the shop near the clothing and pointed where she was to me. I just couldn't believe it.

"She was with Charlotte and George looking at Halloween outfits but her bodyguard was kind of watching people with phones and telling them no pictures.

"I managed to get the photo as she was at the self service check out.

"I didn't see what she actually bought. The lady that told me she was there had children with her and she said Kate was asking her children what they were going to be for Halloween.

"I think she bought some Halloween bits for her kids but I don't know what."

Despite undoubtedly not being short of a few quid, Kate will likely be chuffed with the prices on offer at Sainsbury's. Outfits for witches and skeletons each cost around £9.

Kathy from Norwich, said Kate seemed "down to earth" and looked "beautiful as always."

As well as a burly bodyguard, Kate also had Charlotte, 4, and George, 6, in tow as she browsed the goods on offer.

She added: "It was so lovely to see her doing normal stuff that you and I do.

"It was so lovely to see her, she is always beautiful. You don't expect to see that when you go shopping! I couldn't concentrate on my shopping.

"Kate was wearing black trousers and a black polo neck. Charlotte was wearing a little checkered skirt but I couldn't see anything else. She was saying: 'Come on kids' she just understandably wanted to keep them safe.

"You just don't expect it to happen, you think Kate would shop in Waitrose or Harrods!

"She just seemed so down to earth and beautiful as always!"

Kate isn't averse to doing a bit of shopping at what might be considered 'regular' shops.

She was spotted in The Range in Norfolk with the Prince and Princess last December looking for last-minute Christmas buys.
