Kate Middleton spent two days secretly working at Kingston Hospital Maternity Unit in Surrey

The Duchess of Cambridge has spent two days secretly working in a London maternity unit.

According to Court Circular, an official record of past royal engagements, the Duchess worked at the Kingston Hospital Maternity Unit in London for two days.

The private visit was reportedly in connection to her Early Years work, outlined on the Royal Foundation website.

"The Duchess of Cambridge believes we can better provide solid social and emotional platforms for children to make them healthier and more resilient later in life," a description of the project reads. It also added that the Duchess has been working with a steering group of "academics, practitioners and charities" leading up to a "major body of work" which will be unveiled later this year.

According to its official 2017-18 annual report, Kingston Hospital Maternity Unit in Surrey delivered 5,330 babies in the time period. In 2017 its Supervision of Midwifery team won an LSA award for 'Team of The Year.'

With three children of her own - George (6), Charlotte (4) and Louis (1) - the Duchess has spoken passionately about motherhood. “It’s so hard," she said on a visit to Family Action in January 2018, "You get a lot of support with the baby as a mother, particularly in the early days, but after the age of one it falls away. After that there isn’t a huge amount - lots of books to read. Everybody experiences the same struggle.”

She also previously spoke about loneliness and parenting. “It is lonely at times and you do feel quite isolated," she said on a visit to the Global Academy in 2017, "but actually so many other mothers are going through exactly what you are going through."

Kate's three children with Prince William were born at the private Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in London.
