Kate Middleton shares adorable clip of royal children playing in woodland garden

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released adorable video footage of their children playing in Kate's Chelsea Flower Show garden.

It comes hours after Kensington Palace shared heartwarming pictures of George, five, Charlotte, four and Louis, one, inside the woodland-themed creation.

Kate and William's children explored their mum's Chelsea Flower Show garden on Sunday, ahead of the public unveiling.

George and Charlotte can be seen dangling their bare feet over a stream of water in a collection of pictures of the youngster's visit.

In one clip, a grinning Louis, who celebrated his first birthday in April, toddles along with a branch in his hand as dad Prince William smiles and keeps a close watch over him.

In another shot, Princess Charlotte, dressed in a floral frock, is holding onto a rope swing and looking back at the cameraman with an angelic smile on her face.

Prince Louis also got to try the rope swing in the show garden, with dad William, 36, balancing him on top of the ball.

The royal children spent almost an hour playing with their parents, as shown in six candid images taken by Mr Porteous, who was commissioned to shoot Louis’ christening, George’s third and fifth birthdays, and the family's Christmas card last year.

George, Charlotte and Louis have helped their mum to collect moss, leaves and twigs to decorate the garden, which uses hazel sticks gathered by the family to make its den.

The space features a high-platform tree house atop a chestnut trunk clad in stag horn oak, hazel and larch cladding that draws inspiration from a bird or animal nest.

Kate, 37, emphasised the mental and physical benefits of being among nature during an interview filmed in her show garden.

In the video, she says: "An amazing fact I learnt recently was that 90 per cent of our adult brains are developed before the age of five.

"What a child experiences in those really early years directly affects how the brain develops.

"That's why I think it's so important, whether we're parents or carers or family members, [to] really engage in quality time with children and babies from a really young age.

"I really feel that nature and being interactive outdoors has huge benefits on our physical and mental wellbeing, particularly for young kiddies.

Even Prince Louis, one, had a bit of fun with his parents (@KensingtonRoyal/Twitter)

"This is a natural, creative place for them to play. I really hope that this woodland that we have created here really inspires families, kids and communities to get outside, enjoy nature and the outdoors and spend quality time together."

The photos, taken by Matt Porteous, were released by Kensington Palace as the Duchess promotes her garden which was inspired by her childhood and is aimed at encouraging children to play outdoors to benefit their mental health and development.
