Kate Middleton seen as 'safe pair of hands' in 'troubled times' for royal family

Kate Middleton is seen as 'a safe pair of hands' in 'troubled times' for the royal family, an expert has said.

The Duchess of Cambridge has sometimes been described as a 'peacekeeper' whose status remains steady, according to public opinion.

Results of a YouGov survey showed 76 per cent of responders thought she would make a good Queen one day.

"She is seen as a safe pair of hands in troubled times," Claudia Joseph, author of Kate: Making of a Princess, told Vogue.

The Duchess was praised as a peacemaker between brothers William and Harry at Prince Philip's funeral last month.

As they left the service, the Duchess was pictured chatting to Prince Harry, who was reportedly shunned by other members of the family, and moved away so he and William could talk.

She also gave her father-in-law, Prince Charles, a peck on the cheek as he was overcome with grief.

After the funeral, Brian Hoey, who has written a biography of Prince William, told The Sun: “They say cometh the hour, cometh the man. But in the Royal Family's case, it’s a woman.

“Thank God for Kate — she is the rock the monarchy will depend on.

"On Saturday, she behaved absolutely impeccably.”

Fellow expert Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, added: “She has just got beautiful manners — taught by her mum Carole — and when she sees an awkward situation, she steps in.

"That’s why she talked to Harry.”

Kate's act of bringing the brothers closer is an example of her role in the royal family, Vogue reports.

An example where in the face of difficulties she simply carries on.
