Kate Middleton's sweet nine-word response to nervous fan in Leeds as she 'breaks royal protocol' for selfie

The Princess of Wales has shared a heartwarming moment with a nervous fan during her visit to Leeds this week.

As part of her royal engagement on Tuesday, the Princess toured Kirkgate Market and spoke to vendors to discuss their experiences in early childhood. The visit marked the launch of her Shaping Us project which aims to highlight the significance of the formative years of a child's life.

Hundreds of people turned up to the market in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the Princess. As she walked through the venue, many were eager to capture the moment on camera with one fan even asking the mum-of-three if she would take a selfie with him.

In a video shared on Twitter by GB News' royal reporter, Cameron Walker, the man can be heard asking: "Can I get a selfie?" To which the Princess replied: "Yes you can, very quickly."

Trying to open his phone camera with shaking hands, he said: "Sorry, I am really nervous." She then sweetly responded: "Please don't worry, it's ok, we all get nervous."

The Princess patiently waited for the man to get his bearings and posed for a photograph with him. Before walking off, she told him: "Well done, nice to meet you. Take care."

According to reports, there is a little-known rules which bans members of the Royal Household from taking selfie with members of the public. This became public knowledge thanks to Meghan Markle revealing so in 2017.

After the walkabout the Princess joined a discussion with a group who has been involved with Child Friendly Leeds. The initiative is designed to encourage the city to make Leeds the best place for youngster to grow up in.

The Princess told them: “(Having) children and young people at the heart of the city and community here is really impressive.”
