Kate Middleton's mum says Christmas tradition with royal children is back this year

Kate Middleton's mum has said that a Christmas tradition she loves doing with her grandchildren could return this year.

Carole Middleton has previously said how she normally lets her grandchildren - including Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - decorate one of her Christmas trees.

But covid restrictions last year meant the grandmother was not able to see the children and instead they had to carry out the tradition via Zoom, as reported by the Mirror.

Carole, who runs the party supplies business Party Pieces, took to her business' Instagram page to confirm the tree decorating ceremony would be taking place again this year.

The grandmother-of-five wrote: "Once again this year we plan to have two Christmas trees: one for the children to decorate and one which I do myself."

She added: "My beloved tree-top angel is looking a little worse for wear after years of service so it’s time to invest in something new.

"This Light Up Gold Star will bring an extra twinkle to proceedings."

And it seems that helping out the royal children will be Kate's sister Pippa's kids Arthur and Grace.

Meanwhile, Carole also previously revealed another decoration she will be hiding around her home for her grandchildren - Christmas gonks.

In recent years, the Scandinavian gnomes have boomed in popularity across Britain and Carole, whose Party Pieces business sells the dolls, also wrote on her firm's Instagram page: "I’m going to need a few of these cheeky chaps this December, to hide around the house and make my grandchildren laugh.

“As much as I love immaculate decorations, we can’t be too serious at Christmas!”

It's believed that Kate and Prince William along with George, Charlotte and Louis will be spending Christmas this year at Sandringham with the rest of the Royal Family before spending time at the Middletons.

But despite effectively celebrating Christmas three times, one royal expert has said William and Kate will be sure to try not to spoil George, Charlotte and Louis too much.

Royal expert Duncan Larcombe has said the couple will "want their children to feel normal" and "won’t be lavishing them with expensive gifts".

Mr Larcombe told OK! that the family will be celebrating Christmas on their own, together with the more formal event at Sandringham with William's family and spending time with Kate’s family.
