Kate Middleton’s hidden Bristol connection that goes back decades

When Kate Middleton married into the Royal Family, every aspect of her life became public knowledge.

Just as quickly as the Duchess said “I do” in 2011 was her life dissected; from school to University, boyfriends to meeting William.

Kate’s family were soon under the spotlight too, including mother Carole, dad Michael and younger siblings Pippa and James.

We know Kate grew up in Chapel Row, near Berkshire, and studied history at the University of St. Andrews where she met Prince William.

However, it turns out Kate’s family has a long-standing connection much closer to home.

Kate’s father Michael, who was born in Leeds, attended Clifton College in Bristol.

He followed in the footsteps of his father Peter and grandfather Noel who also attended the public school, on College Road, and boarded at Brown’s House.

It’s understood Michael was a college prefect and represented Clifton at rugby whilst studying there.

Kate Middleton has been in the spotlight recently for her role in ‘keeping the peace’ between her husband and brother-in-law.

Many have praised the Duchess for her ‘impeccable’ behaviour at Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday, after she was spotted stepping away from Prince William and Harry to allow them to talk.

Speaking of the funeral on Good Morning Britain, Dickie Arbiter - the best-known of all the Queen's former press secretaries - said: "The ice was broken by the Duchess of Cambridge.

"Harry went to speak to her and she kind of stepped sideways to allow the two brothers to talk together."

Brian Hoey added: “They say cometh the hour, cometh the man. But in the Royal Family’s case, it’s a woman.

“Thank God for Kate — she is the rock the monarchy will depend on. On Saturday, she behaved absolutely impeccably.”
