Kate Middleton's bridesmaids now... 'bombshell', billionaire husband and Coronation role

When the Princess of Wales walked down the aisle on her wedding day it seemed like the perfect fairytale.

Not only did she stun in her gorgeous Alexander McQueen gown, but she was accompanied by a band of young bridesmaids - many who were getting their first taste of royal life.

Among them were several young royals, children of much-loved friends and of course Kate's sister Pippa, who was catapulted to fame.

But with that big day almost 12 years ago a lot has changed for the bridesmaids who nearly stole the show. Here we take a look at what they are up to now...

Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones

Lady Margarita was one of two of Kate's bridesmaids who were already members of the Firm.

She is the granddaughter of the late Princess Margaret and the daughter of the 2nd Earl of Snowdon, David Armstrong-Jones, and his ex-wife Serena Armstrong-Jones.

Margarita was just eight on the wedding day but fast-forward almost 12 years and she is the cover star of the latest issue of Tatle r, where she is described as an "English Rose bombshell".

The 26th in line to the throne currently lives a low-key life in Paris, where she is studying jewellery and photography.

In recent years she attended many royal events, including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding as well as the late Queen's state funeral.

Last year she also attended Tatler's Little Black Book party where she wore a sequinned dress and fur stole - almost identical to an outfit worn by her late grandmother.

Lady Louise Windsor

Lady Louise, the daughter of the new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh Prince Edward and wife Sophie, was just seven on the big day.

She is a cousin to Prince William and sat next to her other cousin Prince Harry during a carriage ride back to Buckingham Palace.

Now Louise, who was often referred to as the late Queen's favourite grandchild, is 19 and a student at St Andrew's University in Scotland.

She is currently an English student and is studying at the exact same university where William and Kate met and saw their romance blossom.

Last year, it emerged that Louise, a keen carriage driver taking after her grandfather Prince Philip, had taken a summer job working in a garden centre as she waited for her A-Level results.

She is believed to have worked for £6.83 an hour, with shoppers praising her for being "polite and attentive" in her role.

Eliza Lopes

Among the youngest of the bridesmaids on the big day was Queen Camilla's granddaughter Eliza Lopes.

She is the daughter of Camilla's daughter Laura Lopes, who is also a forgotten stepsister of William and Harry.

Eliza has largely grown up away from the public spotlight, and is now 15 and carrying on her studies at school.

However, it has been reported that Eliza along with her brothers Gus and Louis and cousins Lola and Freddy Parker-Bowles could be set for starring roles at the Coronation of King Charles and their grandmother Camilla.

The Sunday Times reports that Camilla has asked her grandchildren to hold a canopy over her as she is anointed with holy oil during a part of the ceremony. This role was previously performed by Duchesses.

A royal source told the outlet: "It sends a nice signal and is quite a bold move. It is another example of the King and Queen Consort being unafraid to shake things up a bit to reflect the realities of modern life, of which a blended family is a central element."

Grace van Cutsem

Grace, who was then just three, takes credit for one of the best photos from Kate and William's special day.

She pulled a completely unimpressed face and covered her ears in front of the newlyweds as they shared their Buckingham Palace balcony kiss.

The adorable photo earned her the nickname Grumpy Grace, and is many people's favourite snap from the day.

She's the daughter of the couple's friend Hugh van Cutsem, and is William's goddaughter.

After her day in the royal spotlight Grace, now 15, returned to her normal life, and lives at the family home in Oxfordshire with her parents and brothers, Rafe and Charlie.

The family spent time in Sri Lanka, during which Grace was homeschooled, but she's now enrolled at a private school.

Pippa Matthews

One bridesmaid who shot to fame on the day she was part of Kate's bridal party was her younger sister Pippa.

She stood out among the much younger bridesmaids as she was 27 and wore a beautiful white Alexander McQueen gown.

Much was made of Pippa's form-flattering ivory dress although she was pipped at the post for the annual Rear Of The Year title by former Countdown host Carol Vorderman.

Fans also couldn't get enough of the apparent chemistry between her and Harry, who was serving as best man for William.

After the wedding, she saw her fame skyrocket being named among Time magazine's most influential people in the world in 2012 and releasing a book called Celebrate, which is a guide to party planning.

She also penned columns for Waitrose magazine and the Telegraph but has recently turned her attention to charity work.

In 2017 she had her own fairytale wedding when she married wealthy hedge fund manager James Matthews - the older brother of Made In Chelsea star Spencer.

Prince George was a pageboy and Princess Charlotte among her bridesmaids with wedding guests including William and Kate, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the tennis ace Roger Federer.

Pippa and James are now parents to three children, Arthur aged four, two-year-old Grace and Rose, who was born last year.
