Kate Middleton 'rolled out the red carpet' to include Meghan Markle in royal and personal life, friends claim.
The comment was made after new book Finding Freedom, profiling Harry and Meghan, claimed the Cambridges weren't welcoming towards the American actress.
But friends have hit back at the negative comments, saying Kate 'welcomed Meghan with open arms' with a number of gestures to make their future in-law feel at home.
The Cambridges hosted at their private home Anmer Hall in Norfolk where she cooked Meghan her favourite vegan dish.
A friend told The Mail on Sunday: "It's just completely wrong to suggest they didn't talk and plain wrong to say the Cambridges weren't welcoming.
"How can you say they weren't warm or welcoming when they hosted Meghan for Christmas, invited her into their totally private inner sanctum at Anmer Hall and did everything they could to make her feel at home?
"They personally cooked her favourite vegan food, they couldn't have been more welcoming."
The royals also went on several outings together with Kate inviting Meghan to Wimbledon for two years running.
Co-authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand made more inflammatory revelations about the brothers' relationship that was repeatedly tested during Megxit.
One senior royal referred to Meghan as 'Harry's showgirl' while another claimed she has 'a lot of baggage'.
And a high-ranking courtier allegedly told a colleague: "There's just something about her I don't trust."
Prince William is reportedly finding the renewed drama between the siblings difficult.
A friend said: "William had hoped that everyone had moved on, but clearly that's not the case. He's a little sad and disappointed that it's being raked up all over again.
"He was extremely upset and hurt at the time [in January when Harry stood down from his duties] and his relationship with his brother is still quite distant.
"It's best described as on-off and more off at the moment. He has no plans to see his brother this year, but of course Covid makes that much more difficult [anyway]."
It comes as royal author Andrew Morton has warned there's 'no way back' for the siblings' relationship now the book is out there.
He said: "There is now a huge question mark hanging over the future of the Royal Family.
"Harry hasn’t just burned his bridges with his family – he’s buried the ashes.
There is no way back for the couple now.
"By striking out on their own and doing things their way, the Sussexes have blindsided the Royal Family in the way Diana did when she did her Panorama interview in 1995.
