Kate Middleton revealed sweet royal wish 10 years ago - and it's come true

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a sweet but simple wish for their royal future during their engagement interview - and 10 years on from historical wedding it has certainly come true.

Prince William met the then-Kate Middleton when they were both students at Andrew's University when they were 19. They were good friends before moving in to a shared house with other pals, where romance blossomed.

Despite a brief split in 2007, William proposed with his late mother's engagement ring during a trip to Kenya in 2010.

During their famous engagement interview with journalist Tom Bradby in 2010, the couple made many interesting revelations about their relationship including their wish to have a "happy family."

Mr Bradby asked the couple if they wanted to have children in the future, to which they both eagerly replied yes but only after some time.

William said: "I think we'll take it one step at a time. We'll sort of get over the marriage first and then maybe look at the kids.

"But obviously we want a family, so we'll have to start thinking about that."

Kate also said: "And I hope we will be able to have a happy family ourselves."

Since that interview, their wish has come true as William and Kate are proud parents to three children Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three.

During the interview, William also revealed how he proposed to Kate.

He said: "It was about three weeks ago on holiday in Kenya. We had a little private time away together with some friends and I just decided that it was the right time really.

"We had been talking about marriage for a while so it wasn't a massively big surprise. I took her up somewhere nice in Kenya and I proposed."

And he did so with his late mother's ring.

"It is very special to me and Kate is very special to me now as well," he said.

"It is only right the two are put together. It is my way of making sure my mother didn't miss out on today."
