Kate Middleton praised for being a 'normal' mum and refusing special treatment

Kate Middleton is being praised for refusing special treatment and just being a 'normal' mum.

The Duchess of Cambridge was seen shopping with her children in London's King's Road and allowing them to spend their hard-earned pocket money.

Kate, who shares Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 3, with Prince William, was spotted telling her three children they could choose something to buy with their own money - but they had to stay within the budget.

The 39-year-old mum-of-three was served by a shop assistant was was left impressed with her parenting style.

Alexa, who works in the store they visited, tweeted: "I've always been a Kate Middleton fan... today she was in one of my stores on the Kings Road with George and Charlotte, what the team told me about how she was with them and how the kids were with each other makes me like her even more!"

She went on: "I wasn't there but she talked to my team, the kids had a budget that they stuck to and paid for their own things with their own money.

"Just normal well brought up children and a normal parent trying to do the right thing and that's just lovely!"

Kate is known for encouraging her kids to learn how to save their own pocket money and also teaches them to fend for themselves where they can, including switching on Peppa Pig episodes on the TV.

Prince William previously told Radio One how eldest son and future King George is a big fan TV pig.

William said: "You have to pretend you're really interested in it because George gets very upset if you're not showing due diligence to the characters."

But Kate says she is 'passionate' about getting her children outdoors and keeping screentime to a minimum.

Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher's podcast Happy Baby Happy Mum, she said: "As children, we spent a lot of time outside and it's something I'm really passionate about.

"I think it's so great for physical and mental wellbeing and laying those foundations."

Kate also has a love for gardening and grows fruit and vegetables with the young Royals.

She told Mary Berry on their Christmas Special with ITV: "We grow our own vegetables. We've got carrots, beans, beetroot - a massive favourite - Louis absolutely loves beetroot.

"I think being outside and being in nature is such a great environment for children to learn lifelong skills, really. Physical, emotional and cognitive skills. Whether it's digging, running, boulder-hopping..."
