Kate Middleton on how George and Louis are coping with the loss of the Queen

Kate Middleton has revealed how her two boys are coping with the death of their great-grandmother, the Queen, as her funeral takes place this morning.

The Princess of Wales was speaking to Australia's Governor-General, David Hurley when she told of how her youngest son Louis, who is now four years old, is asking many questions in light of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.

While attending a Commonwealth reception at Buckingham Palace on Saturday, Mr. Hurley said Kate explained how Prince George, who is nine, is “sort of now realising how important his great-grandmother was and what is going on,” MailOnline reports.

Mr. Hurley also recalled that Kate said Louis is wondering if the family's annual summer visit to Balmoral Castle will still be as he remembers them.

“The younger one is now asking questions like, ‘do you think we can still play these games when we go to Balmoral’ and things like that because she's not going to be there?'” Mr. Hurley revealed to the MailOnline.

Last week, the Princess of Wales told well-wishers that Prince George ‘understands the loss’ of his great-grandmother but Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis ‘less so.’

Earlier this week it was confirmed that Prince George and Princess Charlotte would be at the Queen’s state funeral, as the order of service laid out.

The nine-year-old future king and his seven-year-old sister gathered alongside 2,000 people in Westminster Abbey at 11:00 am on Monday to remember their late great-grandmother, as millions watch the televised service across the globe.

The young royals walked through the gothic church with the royal family this morning, in procession behind the Queen’s coffin which was carried by the military bearer party.

Their grandfather, King Charles, and the Queen Consort walked immediately behind the coffin, followed by Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, then the Duke of York, followed by the Earl and Countess of Wessex, and then the Prince and Princess of Wales.

George and Charlotte, who referred to the Queen as “Gan Gan”, were together behind their parents, walking side-by-side in formation. They were followed by their uncle and aunt the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and other members of the royal family.

The second and third in line to the throne were also at the committal service in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle afterward. However, the prince and princess’ four-year-old brother Prince Louis was not in attendance.
