Kate Middleton is ‘model of what a future Queen should be’ by ‘not seeking fame’

Kate Middleton has been hailed as "a model of what a future Queen should be" as she celebrates her 10th wedding anniversary with Prince William.

Royal writer Penny Junor said she thinks the Duchess of Cambridge, 39, is "absolutely extraordinary" as Kate and William released two new portraits of themselves.

The couple beam with happiness as they are locked in each other's arms in the snaps taken by renown photographer Chris Floyd at Kensington Palace.

William and Kate seem on the brink of laughter in one of the two portraits, where Kate leans on her husband's chest while the Duke looks straight at the camera grinning.

Her blue sapphire engagement ring, which was once famously belonging to her late mother-in-law, Diana, Princess of Wales, is visible as her hand rests on William's arm.

The other snaps shows the Duke, 38, looking intensely at his beloved wife while he hugs her and she smiles away.

Commenting on the day that marks 10 years since the Cambridges tied the knot at Westminster Abbey, Ms Junor described the Duchess as a “model of what a future queen should be”.

“I think she has been absolutely extraordinary and a model of what a future queen should be,” the Telegraph quotes her sayin g.

“She has got such poise and elegance and she’s not in competition with William. She doesn’t seem to be seeking fame.

“Everything about her is measured. She’s a grown-up. She seems to care a lot about everything she’s put her name to."

Second-in-line to the throne William married his former university flatmate Kate Middleton, who hailed from a wealthy middle-class background, at Westminster Abbey on April 29 2011 after an eight-year relationship.

Ten years on, the couple have three children, seven-year-old Prince George, Princess Charlotte, five, and three-year-old Prince Louis.

In recognition of a decade of marriage, Her Majesty sent a touching message to her grandson and his wife.

Writing alongside a photo of Kate and William that the loved-up couple shared last night, the Queen wrote: “Wishing The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge a very happy wedding anniversary.

“Today marks ten years since Their Royal Highnesses exchanged vows at Westminster Abbey.”

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall also sent a congratulatory messages.

"Wishing The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge a very happy 10th wedding anniversary," they wrote, adding an exploding party toy icon at the end.
