Kate Middleton has ‘unwritten deal’ when sharing photos of George, Charlotte and Louis

Kate Middleton's willingness to share pictures of her children on their birthdays is part of an ‘unwritten deal’, according to one royal expert.

Yesterday (April 23) marked Prince Louis’ third birthday, which the family celebrated at Kensington Palace.

Kate shared an adorable photo she took of Louis on his first day of nursery, smiling while riding a red bike and wearing a rucksack.

But Kate, who is a keen photographer, reportedly has a deal with paparazzi to share the candid photos she takes of her children.

Writing in the Telegraph, author and journalist Harry Mount claimed Kate and William's willingness to share official pictures of their children is part of an unwritten deal with paparazzi.

Reflecting on Kate's new birthday photo of Louis, Mr Mount wrote: "Prince Louis, the Cambridges' youngest son, turns three today – on St George’s Day – and you can already begin to see his character emerging.

"He is the classic, cheeky, third-child scamp."

Mr Mount added: "It's the royal tradition to release a picture on a child's third birthday – part of the unwritten deal that, in return for official photographs, the paparazzi will leave the Royal family alone.

"It helps, too, that the Duchess of Cambridge has become a considerable photographer in her own right which means her subjects are at their most relaxed for her to capture these fun intimate portraits.

"The sort you only get from a little boy looking at his beloved mother, pleased as punch that he's mastered the crucial little boy's art of turning his bike handlebars – racing style."

The Duke and Duchess are known to share their photos on their Instagram page, @KensingtonRoyal, which they started in 2015.

The Instagram account now boasts 12.5 million followers.
