Kate Middleton had 'private meeting with TV boss' amid claims she could make documentary

Kate Middleton could be set to follow in the footsteps of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle amid reports she has held secret meetings with a high-profile TV executive.

The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly held a phone call with David Glover, who commissioned the hit Channel 4 show Gogglebox and was responsible for much of the physicist Stephen Hawking's television work, on Tuesday.

It is understood the potential documentary would be about early childhood development with a royal source claiming the secret meeting was for "preliminary and for research purposes".

Kate's documentary "could have the feel of the BBC's popular geneaology series Who Do You Think You Are?", in which famous figures explore their ancestry and family history.

A source told the Mail Online : "Catherine is very interested in a programme. She thinks it could be a really significant way to explore an important subject. She's been very impressed with William's efforts and knows how much he enjoyed making his Earthshot series."

The 39-year-old duchess said earlier this week that she had been exploring four generations of her family as part of her work into early childhood development.

A Kensington Palace spokesman told the Mail Online the reported meeting with Mr Glover was "private" and declined to comment further.

It comes after criticism of Prince Harry and his actress wife Meghan Markle, who recently signed a deal worth a reported £73 million to make films and programmes for streaming giant Netflix.

However, the fierce critics of the young couple's private business affairs have so far appeared less bothered about similar moves being made by Kate and her husband, Prince William.

The Duke of Cambridge worked on an environmental series with Sir David Attenborough, which began on the BBC this week, to little or none of the same vitriol levied at Prince Harry and Meghan for striking a deal with Netflix.

The Mirror has contacted Kensington Palace for comment.
