Kate Middleton dazzles in blue as she heads to Scotland to join Prince William on tour

Kate Middleton has arrived in Scotland to kick off an official tour with Prince William.

The Duke of Cambridge started the trip alone on Friday, however the pair have now reunited and today visited an addiction charity together.

Kate and William dazzled onlookers with eye-catching blue outfits, in a subtle nod to Scotland's national flag.

Prince William wore a blue jacket and trousers while Kate donned a Zara blazer and Hope skirt.

The royal couple met staff at Turning Point Scotland today and heard about how they help people battling addiction and mental health issues.

They also spoke to individuals who had been helped by the charity's Turnaround service at the organisation's centre in the town of Coatbridge.

The service helps offenders address their alcohol and drug issues to stop them committing crime again.

Neil Richardson, CEO of Turning Point Scotland, said that the couple were clearly "very well-tuned into" the charity's mental health work and the barriers individuals face, Town and Country reports.

He added: "I think they recognised a lot of what they heard today. They came over as very relaxed, very personable.

"Everyone commented on it afterwards, they were just lovely people... I think this will give the whole organisation a real lift, partly that they have taken the time and the interest to come and spend some time with us, but also it's an endorsement that what we are doing matters and that it is valued.

"And in social care that's not always the case, staff often get treated pretty poorly. So it really counts for an awful lot."

A Kensington Palace spokesman added that the though her royal work over the past decade the Duchess of Cambridge has gained an understanding of how the causes of addiction can be traced to childhood.

Kate and William will remain in Scotland until Thursday and are due to meet charities and groups tackling a range of issues, covering the environment, mental health, homelessness and addiction.

The Duke of Cambridge yesterday politely fended off the advances of the elderly admirer at a Scottish care home.

William joked "you are making me blush" when the flirtatious 96-year-old resident, Betty, told him "it's customary in these parts to give a lady a kiss on the cheek".

Betty persisted, asking him to give her a peck as William laughed and covered his face in mock embarrassment.
