Kate Middleton bought Prince Harry savage Christmas present - but it went down a treat

Christmas shopping for your in-laws is hard at the best of times, but imagine doing it if they're some of the richest people in the country.

This is a position both Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle found themselves in as they married into the Royal Family - but it sounds like they've come up with some brilliant ideas of the years.

Instead of impressing with lavish, expensive gifts, the royals reportedly have one rule when it comes to buying Christmas presents for each other.

They simply have to exchange gifts that are cheap and cheerful.

It's more about having a sense of humour than impressing with luxury presents.

The Duchess of Cambridge proved she has great banter one year when she reportedly bought brother-in-law Harry a bit of a savage present.

The prince, who was single at the time following a string of high-profile relationships, was given a 'grow-your-own-girlfriend' kit by his sister-in-law.

Ouch.

It's a testament to how close the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry are if they can appreciate a savage joke together.

Harry's no stranger to a prank present, either, as he apparently once gave his grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, a shower cap which said 'ain't life a bitch' on the front.

Last year his then-fiance Meghan Markle reportedly gave the Queen a singing hamster toy which Her Maj loved - and so did the Corgis, as it was later reported one broke the toy.

Meghan and Harry have spent the last two years in Sandringham with the Royal Family, but it's all change this year as they will spend the day with the Duchess' mum Doria Ragland instead.

Kate, Wills, George, Charlotte and Louis will join the Queen and the rest of the Royals for the Norfolk celebrations - but they'll miss time with their new cousin Archie.

On the big day they family enjoy a big breakfast before heading out to church where they meet well-wishers.

It's then back to the house for a traditional Christmas dinner . They then sit down to watch the Queen's speech, but the Monarch always leaves the room while it's on.
