Kate Middleton is not allowed to vote or take selfies as part of a host of "normal" things royals are banned from doing.
In Meghan Markle's recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, she claimed there was little she was allowed to do during her time as a working royal.
She claimed she wasn't allowed to go out for lunch with her friends because she'd been in the media too much.
“The Firm would say, 'Well, you can’t do this because it’ll look like that,'" she said.
As a member of the royal family, there are certain rules and customs relating to what you are and are not allowed to do and how members of the family should conduct themselves.
Yahoo Lifestyle looked at all the things Kate Middleton, as Duchess of Cambridge and a working royal, must and must not do.

Voting
On the parliament website, under the question 'Can the Queen vote,' it says: "Although not prohibited by law, it is considered unconstitutional for the Monarch to vote in an election."
As Head of State, the Queen has to remain strictly neutral with respect to political matters, unable to vote or stand for election.
However, Her Majesty does have important ceremonial and formal roles in relation to the government of the UK.
Although this only applies directly to the Queen, all members of the Royal Family are said to abide by this.
Signing autographs
Members of the Royal Family are banned from signing autographs, according to The Express.
Apparently, the royals aren't allowed to sign their name for admirers because of a safety measure.
The rule is in place to avoid the signatures of royals being forged, and they all have to follow the anti-fraud policy.

How to dress
Members of the royal family are expected to dress appropriately, modestly and smartly to official engagements.
Female royals tend to be scrutinised more for their outfits and reportedly must wear tights, skirts that reach the knees and no bright nail varnish.
According to reports, royals are also banned from wearing fur.

Carrying a black outfit abroad
The Duchess of Cambridge and other members of the royal family are required to pack a black outfit when they go abroad.
This is so she has funeral-appropriate attire in the case of a death.
It is also reported that two heirs to the throne are not allowed to travel together.
Selfies
Kate and other royals are not allowed to take selfies or have personal social media accounts.
During her first public walkabout in Nottingham with Prince Harry, Meghan politely told one couple "we're not allowed to do selfies."
Going to bed before the Queen
It is reportedly thought of as bad etiquette to go to bed before the Queen does.

Curtsying to the Queen
Kate Middleton is expected to curtsy to the Queen and other members of the royal family of a higher rank.
Reports say however, there are no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting the Monarch.
Meghan Markle, in the interview with Oprah, revealed she was surprised when she realised she would have to curtsy when she met the Queen.
