The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have made a key change to their charity as they prepare to run it without Meghan Markle and Prince Harry .
The royal couples announced earlier this year that they will split their charity work, with Kate and Wills continuing the original Royal Foundation while the Sussexes set up a new one of their own.
The news came in the middle of a rumoured rift between the couples, but official statements said it was to enable them to focus on their own individual causes.
Now, the Cambridges have announced that their CEO Lorraine Heggessey will be standing down and have revealed her replacement.
Their former PR chief Jason Knauf will take over the important role, and will be tasked with running the organisation as it enters its new phase.
Kate and William said: "Lorraine has played an integral role in our charitable initiatives over the last two and a half years.
"We are pleased that Jason has been appointed as CEO and very much look forward to working with him in his new role."
Last week we learnt more about Meghan and Harry's new charity after the details were posted on Companies House.
The new charity will be called Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the couple's first project will be protecting lions in Africa, reports to The Sun .
However, royal sources have already started poking fun at the name Sussex Royal , with many saying it sounds like a potato.
One royal source said: “The new name is all about Harry and Meghan building their brand and doing it their way.
“But the name is a little surprising as we were expecting something a bit more traditional.”
The couple have also appointed some of the senior team who will hopefully make it a huge success.
They have made director, who they worked with at the Royal Foundation, as director.
The source told the Sun: “Natalie is great and was already leading on much of the Sussexes’ work so it was a natural progression.
“It’s part of the transition and how the Royal Foundation is helping the Sussexes set up their own thing.”
They have also welcomed PR guru Sara Latham to the team as another director.
The charity was officially registered on July 1.
