New Kensington Palace Orangery Learning Centre will teach schoolkids about royals

A new education centre for children is set to open up at Kensington Palace - right next to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's home.

The centre will be built onto Queen Anne's Orangery, close to Will and Kate's Kensington Palace apartment.

According to an Historic Royal Palaces spokesman, the "Kensington Palace Orangery Learning Centre [will] provide a light and spacious purpose-built education facility designed to meet the needs of our school and community groups.

"It will also house new catering and toilet facilities for the popular Orangery restaurant, alongside offices to support our events team who regularly work in the building."

Though the Orangery will be close to the Duke and Duchess' home, members of the Royal Family have no official involvement with the project, which is being undertaken by Historic Royal Palaces.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have made children's development and education a key part of their own official charitable duties.

With her Early Years work, the Duchess of Cambridge has met with professionals from a number of sectors to discuss children's mental health and parenting.

According to the official Royal website, the Duchess of Cambridge has 'been working with experts and organisations that are championing the importance of providing solid psychological, social and emotional platforms for children in their earliest years of life in order to support their mental health and emotional resilience.'

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have three children - Prince George (6), Princess Charlotte (4) and Prince Louis (1).
