Kate Middleton and Prince William's sweet nicknames they call Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis

One of the quirks of the royal family is that the obsession with having loads of different names, titles and monikers to go by - be it Prince, Duke, Lord or Lady.

And then there's the whole thing about how a member of the royal family can simply change their name when they become king - as previous speculation about what Charles will be known by when he is crowned.

But what about the nicknames they call each other behind closed doors when they act like any other normal family? The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - Prince William and Kate in other words - have lovely little pet names for their children, according to My London.

During the Platinum Jubilee we got more of a glimpse than ever before about the family dynamic of a family of five with three very different children.

At school, Thomas's School in Battersea, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the eight and seven-year-old eldest son and daughter, are simply called George and Charlotte Cambridge, just like any other child. The pair are not referred to using their royal titles and are instead called George and Charlotte just like all the other Georges and Charlottess there and in every school.

Prince William has been overheard referring to Princess Charlotte as 'Mignonette' which is French for "small and delicate". It has also been reported that Kate Middleton refers to her only daughter as "Lottie", Middleton made the reference when speaking to a royal fan in Ireland a few years ago.

Not so much a nickname, we know, but it's tough to imagine someone from the poshest family on the planet going by a shortened name. But perhaps the best nickname in the family is what Wiliam and Kate apparently call Prince George - it's abbrevated to PG and even "Tips", a nod to the famous British brand.

Prince Louis was a favourite amongst fans for his cheeky behaviour over the Jubilee weekend and though it is unclear what nickname Kate and William have given their youngest, fans have started referring to him as "Boss Baby", a reference to the Hollywood character.
