Kate Middleton and Prince William's popularity 'dropping due to Harry', says expert

Prince William and Princess Kate's popularity has apparently plummeted recently, and it's all down to Prince Harry, a critic has claimed.

The release of Prince Harry's tell-all memoir, Spare, has been grabbing all the headlines across the UK, as it sold 1.4 million copies in just one day, reports the Daily Star. The book has made a series of serious allegations, including several battles with the Prince and Princess of Wales.

And now, one royal expert has claimed that the book may have caused far more issues for Kate Middleton that first thought. Writing for news.com.au, Danielle Elser has claimed that a new photo of the Princess of Wales has provided all the evidence needed.

A photo, published one day after the book was released, showed Kate looking emotional as she drove away from her home. Elser writes: “If anyone has ever been in any doubt about the ‘we’re so normal!’ message the Waleses are forever trying to plug, then look no further than the shots that now pop up on the reg.

“This week, came the latest, showing Kate in a chic camel coat and chequered scarf, looking for all intents and purposes like every other put upon mother having to work out how to get grass stains out of a tiny polo uniform the same week she goes back to work.

"While Spare might only have been on shelves for a matter of days, those hard workers over at YouGov have been at it though, polling Brits to find out how they are currently feeling about the House of Windsor and the numbers paint a grim picture for anyone with a personal cipher, notably William and Kate.

"Their net favourability sits at 49 per cent for the Prince and 50 per cent for the Princess, the lowest figures on record for the duo since polling started in 2011."

Danielle added that she wasn't surprised that Kate looked upset, given the content of Harry's memoir and the fallout of the book release.

The Royal Family has yet to comment on the book release, and William and Kate both ignored questions about it from the press during a trip to the newly-opened Royal Liverpool Hospital a few days ago.

Spare sold more than 1.4 million copies during its first day of release.
