Kate Lawler's Portugal holiday ruined as she falls sick with vomiting bug and left bed-ridden

Kate Lawler’s first holiday abroad with her new baby daughter didn’t go as planned.

The former Big Brother star had planned an exciting family holiday to Portugal with fiance Boj and baby girl Noa.

But the break quickly turned into a nightmare after reality TV star Kate and her beau were struck down with norovirus.

The illness left the Virgin Radio host bed-ridden and subject to 12 hours of on-and-off vomiting spells.

And in a post to her 382,000 Instagram followers, 41-year-old Kate revealed

“Wanted a sun tan, we got norovirus instead,” wrote Kate. “Brillliiiennnnnnnt [sic].

“Thanks for all your lovely well wishes. I just managed to eat something and not throw up.”

She had earlier revealed in an Instagram story: “Boj called the doctor as I’ve been sick for over 12 hours.

“He did a covid test to rule that out. Thank goodness it was negative. He said norovirus is rife in Quinta do Lago at the minute.

“Also I stink. Not showered since yesterday. DEGUSTANG (sic). I’m so hungry as well but Doc advised me not to eat until I’ve not been sick for six hours. 3.5 hours to go until dry toast. YAY.

“Gotta look at the positive though….Boj and I didn’t get this at the same time. Noa hasn’t got it.”

Kate is also in Portugal with her mum and dad, as well as he two sisters and brother.

And so thankfully help was on hand to help as the poorly presenter had to battle her nasty bug.

The TV personality shared a sweet snap of her family at the weekend as they all gathered for their first family holiday since 1996.

“The last time my Mum, Dad and us four kids were abroad together was in 1996!” penned Kate, sharing a happy family photo by the pool.

“Felt quite surreal yesterday us all being here at the same time. I’m incredibly grateful to be able to spend time together with them all out here in Portugal, along with my beautiful niece as well (who was having a nap along with Noa when this photo was taken, just in case anyone asks.

“The Handsome is feeling a bit better today as well, thanks for your lovely messages, so hopefully we can have a lovely chilled day by the pool.”

Kate’s fans were delighted she was feeling better and rushed to social media to send their love.

“I’m SO sorry, guys,” commented one fan. “I feel for you. You so bl**dy deserved this holiday and this happens. Sending you my best wishes xx.”

Another added: “So sorry you are not well, but the good news is that Noravirus usually goes away in about 2 days, so you will be eating the mini cornettos and tofu burgers again very soon and feeling more perky.”
