No one wants to hear about their parents’ sex lives.
So spare a thought for actress Kate Hudson whose mum Goldie Hawn and stepdad Kurt Russell regularly overshare when it comes to their bedroom antics.
“They were very open when I was growing up and they still are to this day,” says Kate, 41.
“Sometimes mum will share something with me and I am like, ‘Mum, that is just [too much]’.
“I am, like, ‘I love it and I am here for you, but that is not where I was expecting this conversation to go’.”
Goldie, 75, has been married to Kurt, 70, for 39 years – an impressive feat in anyone’s life, let alone a pair of Hollywood legends.
Kate insists they are “classy not crass” – which is good.
Speaking to Conan O’Brien, the mum-of-three says: “My parents never hid their issues. If they were having a fight, we knew it. We knew they were going through it and needed to talk stuff out.
“It became a family discussion rather than a private talk. Everything was very open.
“My parents are open, but they are not crass. They are classy open.”
Kate, who stars in new film Music alongside Sia, also insists she was a “worker bee” as a kid.
She says: “People have this idea that I was this young party girl but I was super-straight. I did not try weed until I was like 19 or 20 years old.”
Now, the actress is living in LA and says she loves turning up at friends’ houses spontaneously.
“I am the person who says ‘Hi’ to everyone, but people don’t approach me as much,” she says.
“Maybe because I am the famous one. I walk past famous people’s homes and I could knock on the door, but I wonder, ‘Do they want to see me?’”
I’m sure most people would be up for Kate Hudson knocking on their door…
