Kate Garraway to give full details of 'terrifying' car incident on Good Morning Britain

Kate Garraway has revealed she will share full details on the scary moment her car tyre blew on the motorway this weekend, wanting to update fans on what happened.

She managed to remain in control of her car thankfully, but confessed the moment was "utterly terrifying" as she luckily managed to avoid an accident on the road.

Kate will join GMB co-host and close friend Ben Shephard on the show on Monday, as well as Tuesday.

She recently returned to the show following a break since March, when her husband Derek Draper was struck down with coronavirus.

Derek was left fighting for his life, with Kate opening up on her and the family's "tough" few months recently.

Kate Garraway will be back on Good Morning Britain on Monday (ITV)

On Sunday, Kate took to Instagram to open up on the "terrifying" incident that saw her tyre blow while she and the kids were driving on the motorway.

Kate revealed details of the incident, before confirming she would provide a further update on GMB the following morning.

While shaken up, Kate assured fans she and the kids were fine - posting an image of the damaged tyre, and the police officers who helped her.

She wrote: "Thanks to our amazing saviours Liz & Mark from @kentpoliceuk who rescued me after a full tyre blow out on the motorway!!!

"Never had one before - utterly terrifying. Managed to keep control of car but couldn’t get off motorway as no hard shoulder & when the AA said they couldn’t come for an hour, then rang after half an hour to say might still be an hour had no choice but to call the police.

"They were so brilliant and got us to safety and we are now on way home in taxi , shaken but safe , tow truck on way to car.

"It’s first time have taken kids out without Derek too , but we are safe and will update you fully on @gmb with @benshephardofficial tomorrow from 6 a.m."

Kate revealed in the post how it had been the first time she had taken the kids out without their father there.

Derek remains in hospital after being left in a serious condition, due to the damage caused to his body by Covid-19.

Kate remains hopeful that her husband will recover and return home soon, after she revealed she was able to visit him for the first time.

Last week, Kate said on air that Derek had watched her on GMB for the first time since waking from his coma.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
