Kate Garraway has spilled on the 'extraordinary' moment Alison Hammond was proposed to in front of her... at the airport.
Good Morning Britain star Kate, 55, has recalled how she was travelling with This Morning star Alison, 48, when she quickly nipped to the loo – only to return and discover Alison had been proposed to.
In February, it was reported that Alison is engaged to her gardener beau Ben Hawkins after her would be father-in-law Colin Hawkins had said the couple had "proposed to one another". But, Alison later denied she was engaged.
She is yet to confirm her official relationship status with Ben.
However, her TV pal Kate has now spilled the beans on the time she discovered her pal had been proposed to at the airport.
Speaking on the Journey to the Magic podcast, Kate revealed: "I did a great trip recently with Alison Hammond. She is hilarious to travel with.
"She got a marriage proposal at the airport. We were only there for 15 minutes.
"I literally went to the loo, bought a cup of tea and came back and this guy had proposed. It was unbelievable."
Kate continued: "I was just like 'what the heck'. He just sat down and he proposed to her.
"It was extraordinary. She was just like 'yeah' and he proposed - really casual about it. I was like 'this is big stuff."
However, Alison is said to have turned down the mystery man who got down on one knee as Kate said: "But I don't think she's seen him again so it was a no."
It is not known if the man Kate was referring to is Alison's boyfriend Ben.
It comes after Alison spilled on "someone special" in her life and said she was open to a proposal in January this year.
She spilled to My Weekly magazine: "There’s someone special and if he wants to pop the question, he can pop away."
Alison, who is proud mum to son Aiden, has added how she had been dating the guy for a little while and he "worships" her.
The TV star said: "A year-and-a-half I’ve been with him, and no one knew. He absolutely worships me and massages my feet every single day. What more do you want?"
Alison was later snapped alongside Ben for the first time as she left Ben's home in Birmingham in February.
She is said to have fallen for Ben after employing him to spruce up her garden two years ago.
A pal said: "They love to hang out and have been for meals and down to the pub. They’re both down to earth and get on like a house on fire.
"She makes him laugh and Alison thinks it’s cute he still lives with his parents," reports The Sun.
