Kate Garraway smiles through tea-related fail moments before GMB chat

Kate Garraway carried on smiling as she worked through a tea-related fail moments before going live on Good Morning Britain.

The ITV presenter was on the show as a guest as she discussed the "amazing" news that husband Derek Draper had returned home after a year in hospital.

Derek, 53, was first admitted to hospital in March 2020 suffering from coronavirus symptoms before quickly being placed in an induced coma.

The virus "wreaked havoc" on his body but 12 months on, he has finally been allowed to return back to their North London family home with 24-hour-a-day care.

Appearing via video link on Friday's GMB, a flustered Kate was caught unaware as host Ranvir Singh said: "We can just say a quick hello to Kate."

The mum-of-two could be seen sitting in her living room and was giggling to herself as she revealed she had caused a bit of a mess moments before being live.

"I've just spilled my tea all over the floor," she said.

"There is a big puddle. I'll clear it up and I'll be right with you."

Kate was caught off-guard (ITV)

Co-host Ben Shephard cheekily commented: "We don't want you to show the puddle right now otherwise it would look too incriminating the way you're sitting there, Kate."

The group giggles as Ben went further and commented on Kate's seemingly tidy space in her home.

"I'm delighted to see how clean the room is," he said to his fellow GMB star and friend of more than 20 years. "There must have been a bit of tidying up going on there too?" he quizzed.

"There might have been a deep clean taking place. You never know," Kate jokingly replied.

"I'm very organised with the Lego boxes, which I suspect will last about 24 hours."
