Kate Garraway has shared a moving message written on a whiteboard at her husband’s hospital ward, saying that it “definitely spoke to me today”.

In late March, Garraway’s husband, former lobbyist Derek Draper, became ill after contracting coronavirus.

As the 53-year-old’s condition quickly worsened, he was taken to intensive care and placed in a medically-induced coma.

In July, it was reported that Draper was in a minimal state of consciousness, having come out of a “deeper coma”.

On Sunday 4 October, Garraway shared a photograph on Instagram taken in her husband’s hospital ward, showing a white board with a morale-boosting message written on it.

At the top of the message, it states: “To all beautiful/handsome creatures. This is for you.”

In blue and red handwriting, it then reads: “Don’t give up on this year. Keep fighting for the good. Keeping showing up. Keep loving. Keep giving back. Keep being kind. Keep being brave. Keep on caring. Keep trying new things. Keep showing grace. Keep on. The world needs you. To believe in the good.”

The message ends on an optimistic note looking forward to the future, which says: “2021 is coming. Hold on. Smile.”

In her Instagram caption, Garraway praised the “wonderful words” written on the whiteboard.

“Written on a white board on Derek’s ward to spur on staff and patients – not sure if have walked passed it before or it’s new, but definitely spoke to me today [sic],” the Good Morning Britain presenter said.

“Wonderful words as we brace ourselves for another week in these grim times.”

Several Instagram users commented underneath the post with messages of support for Garraway.

“I love this. Sending love and strength Kate,” wrote presenter Kate Thornton.

“Love this darling. Huge love,” added TV personality Lizzie Cundy.
