Kate Garraway has revealed the last text her husband sent her before he was placed into an induced coma.
The Good Morning Britain star has been bravely honest and open about her family's life over the last year after Derek Draper, 53, was admitted to hospital in March 2020 after suffering coronavirus symptoms.
He was soon placed in an induced coma and the virus had a devastating effect on his body - suffering kidney failure, liver and pancreatic damage, as well as having holes in his lungs from pneumonia and lost eight stone following his battle.
Derek, who then remained in a prolonged disorder of consciousness, was thought to be one of the UK's longest running in-patient for Covid-19.
In a positive step, Derek was finally able to return home earlier this month where he is now receiving around-the-clock care.
But in her new memoir, which is being serialised by The Mail on Sunday, Kate has opened up even more about Derek's ordeal and what impact that has had on her and the couple's two children, Darcey and Billy.
As he was lifted into an ambulance, the Mail reports that Kate said Derek told her: "This is not the last time you will see me. It isn’t."
But she admits "he would never have said that if at least a small part of him hadn’t been wondering if it was."
The Good Morning Britain star also writes in the Power of Hope that during one phone call, he told her: "I want you at the funeral."

She went on to say that her husband's messages became "more and more desperate. They were heart-breaking to read."
Earlier in April, Kate joyfully revealed that her husband had been allowed to return to their London home after spending a year in hospital.
And earlier this week Kate shared how Derek recently spoke to her in a 'amazing' moment as he attempts to talk and move more.
Speaking about the "positive moments", Kate said on GMB: "So little moments of reaction, and he actually said something the other day. I walked in the other morning just before I left to got to Smooth [Radio] and he said, 'new dress?' which was just amazing.

"And it was actually," Kate laughed.
"I thought that was amazing on so many levels because he recognised it, second he realised and remembered I needed a lot of flattery," she joked.
"So there was an emotional connection there and some basis of what our relationship has always been based on."
The Power Of Hope by Kate Garraway (Transworld Publishers Ltd, £20), is released Thursday, April 29.
